LITTLE SPANISH SCHOLARS

Announcements

  • Our first Spanish Camp was a huge success last year. We'll be working to put dates together for this summer. Check back for more details!

  • We have started registering for the 2005-2006 school year. If you would like to save a spot for your child, call 360-907-2002 or send an email. Class sizes are limited, so space is filling up.

Classes are currently held at the following Preschools:

Circle of Friends Preschool, Vancouver
Tuesday 11:40am
Thursday 11:40am

We are working on adding  First Presbyterian Preschool in Spokane to our list of schools offering Spanish to their little people. More information on that should be coming in April.

WEEKLY LESSON

Each week I will send home worksheets that correspond with the weekly lesson. You may want to keep a three ring binder to put all the worksheets in and have a great resource at the end of the school year.

Each class begins with a calendar. We talk about the date, as well as, how we are feeling that day. Your child's calendar will be sent home at the end of each month.

The children ask each other, "Como esta Usted?" or "How are you?"

Vocabulary children can choose from on the "Feelings Calendar" are:

  • Feliz - Happy
  • Nervioso - Nervous
  • Triste - Sad
  • Sonoliento - Sleepy
  • Asustado - Scared
  • Enfermo - Sick
  • Tonto - Silly
  • Sorpresa - Surprised
  • Molesto - Mad

We also talk about the day of the week, date and month

  • Lunes - Monday
  • Martes - Tuesday
  • Miercoles - Wednesday
  • Jueves - Thursday
  • Viernes - Friday
  • Sabado - Saturday
  • Domingo - Sunday

PROGRAM COST
The program runs from October through the second week of May. The cost of the program per student for the entire year is 280.00.

Payment can be made a number of ways depending on what is easiest for you.

Monthly = 35.00 (due by the 7th of each month)
Quarterly = 70.00 (due by 10/7, 12/7, 2/7 and 4/7)

A late charge of 5.00 will be assessed if payment is received after the 7th of the month.

ADVANTAGES OF LEARNING SPANISH
Research on second language learning shows that it provides children with many benefits. Bilingual children have increased self esteem, improved understanding and acceptance of other cultures and improved ability in learning English. Scientists also observed a connection to better performance in math and logic skills.

While there are language debates amongst scholars on just how learning occurs, they all agree that the key is to start early . . . and that seeing, hearing and eventually repeating are key.
